1. Develop
A Yoruba-language textbook series covering core Western education subjects: – Psychology, Law, Nursing, Pharmacology, Social Studies, and Literature, History, and Geography (Western epistemologies contextualized) – Educational Psychology and Pedagogy (teacher education modules)
2. Contextualize
Content for Yoruba-speaking learners with: – Yoruba transliterations of key terms – Culturally relevant examples, stories, and case studies – Local measurement units, timelines, and metric conventions adapted where appropriate – Glossaries and pronunciation guides
3. Strenghten
Teacher capacity through: – Companion teacher guides (in Yoruba and English) – Lesson plans, activities, and assessment rubrics – Professional development workshops for in-service and pre-service teachers
4. Ensure
Accessibility and Dissemination via: – Open-access digital editions – Print-on-demand and low-cost print runs – Compatibility with low-bandwidth delivery and offline access – Adaptation templates for other Nigerian languages in the future.
5. Build
Research and evaluation components: – Baseline and follow-up studies on learning outcomes – Teacher and student feedback loops. Iterative revisions based on evidence.
6. Promote
Sustainability and local ownership: – Partnerships with Yoruba education stakeholders (universities, ministries, publishers) – Local editorial boards and quality assurance processes. Revenue models that reinvest into future editions and regional expansion.
